Portugal will have its first Bitcoin ATM Machine

The first Bitcoin ATM Machine - designed by a Portuguese and produced in Portugal - will be available in Portugal soon, at the north of the country.

From 50 proposals, the Portuguese designer Cláudio Castro was the chosen by Lamassu. Besides the design of the machine, the portuguese designer was also responsible for persuading the American company to produce it in his home country.

120 Bitcoin machines are being produced in Portugal, after 40 finished in 2013.

"Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network. Bitcoin is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part.”
