Portuguese e-commerce still growing.

According to ACEPI (Association of Electronic Commerce and Interactive Advertising), portuguese e-commerce has grown of the first trimester of 2011, defying the economic recession atmosphere.

Around 40% of portuguese websites have grown more than 20%; from these, 16% claim to have reached a growth of more than 100%. Besides these numbers, there was also an increase on the volume of clients (70%).

The main categories of products and services traded between January and March were Electronics/Cellphones, Books/Magazines and IT, which demonstrates a tendency towards evolution on several areas, not only technological.

The perspectives for a near future, according to the same study, are good: 24% of portuguese websites believe they will increase or maintain the growth rythm - this percentages goes up to 55% when we inquire companies which only provide services/products B2B.
